The Story:
Sadie Turnipseed is a modern-day teenager trying to find her way in the world. She is forever changed when she discovers a buried copy of the classic Don Quixote. Inspired by the book, Sadie is able to navigate some of her own life issues through the examples exemplified by the novel's extraordinary and hilarious hero.
Details: Performances will be February 22 & 23 at 7pm and February 24 & 25at 1pm & 4pm. Performances will take place at the Webb Theatre on the campus of St. Norbert College. Rehearsals will run Mondays - Thursdays, 4:30 - 6:15 and Saturdays: January 13, 20 & 27 - time to be determined. Additional Saturday rehearsals may be scheduled. Tech rehearsals will begin the afternoon of February 19.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from a provided script. You do not have to attend both days of auditions but are welcome to do so if you want. Attending only one day of auditions will not affect your chances of getting cast.
All actors should be between 8 and 18 years old. All ethnicities and experience levels are invited to audition.

Characters:
DON QUIXOTE - A nobleman who, through his obsession with books of chivalry, transforms into a knight errant
SANCHO PANZA - Quixote's faithful sidekick; clumsy, oafish, lazy at times, but faithful to his friend and always well-intentioned
SADIE - The contemporary parallel to Quixote; a young teenager, kind and passionate, searching for herself; a dreamer, in all the best ways; she is our heroine
CERVANTES -The author of the book Don Quixote and the narrator of our play
GINA - A “mean” girl
TOMMY - The cool guy who Sadie has a crush on; there is more to him than his macho facade
BETH - A “mean” girl
MRS. TURNIPSEED - Sadie's mom
INNKEEPER - Proprietor of a modest inn, also puzzled by Quixote
DUCHESS - Perhaps one of the cruelest characters in the play; very high-class; over the top in her snootiness for comic effect
MRS. SNOGGLEBOTTOM - Sadie's classroom teacher
DUKE - Married to the Duchess; very high-class and very cruel; Over the top as well
PRINCIPAL FRIDAY - The high school principal; somewhat haughty, a little dense
LULU - A dog
CARRASCO - Also plays Knight of the White Moon
APPARITION - A figure wrapped in black to appear ghostly in order to play along with the scheme of the Duke & Duchess
WENCH #1 - A common lady completely baffled by Quixote
WENCH #2 - Another common lady
MERCHANT #1 - An everyday merchant who has a run- in with Quixote
MERCHANT #2 - Another merchant
PEASANT GIRL #1 - A young girl who, in good fun, comes off as crass and crude
PEASANT GIRL #2 - Another young girl
PEASANT GIRL #3 - Another young girl
VILLAGE BARBER - A barber whose shaving basin Quixote mistakes for an illustrious helmet
NIECE - A character from Quixote's past
PRIEST- A character from Quixote's past
SHEEPS - Actors play the sheep that Quixote mistakes as a vast army of enchanters
SHEPHERD WITH STONE - A shepherd desperate to protect his sheep from Quixote's insanity
