THE WAR OF THE WORLDS DRACULA Based on the novels by H.G. Wells & Bram Stoker Sept 24, 25, 26, 27 at 7pm Sep 27 & 28 at 2pm Join Evergreen for two exciting and suspenseful radio plays that will keep you on the edge of your seat! |
The War of the Worlds:
Broadcast from New York's Mercury Theatre in 1938, "The War of the worlds" is the most famous radio play of all time. Based on the novel by H. G. Wells, the original broadcast had many terrified listeners convinced that an actual alien invasion of Earth was taking place. Evergreen will be presenting this production using the original script from 1938 which was adapted by Howard E. Koch, co-writer of Casablanca, and directed and narrated by Orson Welles. This frightening tale of an extraterrestrial takeover is brought to life onstage to fill the audience with thrills and chills.
Dracula:
1888, Whitby, England. When Lucy Westenra falls ill, her fiancée, Jack Seward brings her to his sanitarium. With no sign of improvement, Jack sends for Van Helsing, a specialist in obscure diseases. Mina, Van Helsing's former nurse and her husband, Jonathan Harker also arrive at the sanitarium. Jon's law firm has just purchased the Abbey next door to the sanitarium for a mysterious client from Transylvania, Count Dracula. Jon himself recently became ill while in Transylvania, but is of little help to Van Helsing since he seems to have no memory of much of his time in the country. Will Van Helsing be able to discover what ails Lucy? Will Jon recover his memory of his time in Transylvania? And who is the mysterious Count Dracula moving in next door? This production, based on the classic horror story by Bram Stoker will have audiences looking over their shoulders all night long.
