The Story: Best-selling Wisconsin author Michael Perry’s popular “Population 485” takes the stage as the narrator returns to his small town joining the village’s volunteer fire and rescue department. Through tragedy, heartbreak and danger, the play shows how neighbors-helping-neighbors strengthens the community.
Details: Performances will be May 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 at 7pm and May 4 & 12 at 2pm. Performances will take place at the Webb Theatre on the campus of St. Norbert College. Rehearsals will run Sundays, 4-6 and Mondays - Wednesdays, 6:30 - 8:30 beginning March 10. Tech rehearsals will begin April 28. No rehearsal March 31.
Auditions will consist of cold readings from a provided script though actors are welcome to prepare an audition piece ahead of time if they wish to do so. .

Cast of Characters
Most actors will play multiple roles. Parts are available for 4 men and 4 women though additional actors may be cast if they are seeking a smaller part with few lines.
NARRATOR (this role would not double with additional roles): Male, Writer/Firefighter, 40 to 60 years old, must be bald or willing to appear so
BOB “THE BEAGLE” (this role would not double with additional roles): Male, Butcher/Firefighter, late 30s - 60s, has strabismus (crossed eyes) but wears an eye patch
JED (this role would not double with additional roles): Male, younger brother of the Narrator, Farmer/Firefighter, Age 30 to a “young” looking 40s
CAPTIAN PAM LARSON (this role would not double with additional roles): Female, Factory worker, mother of 4 /Firefighter, variable age
THE CHIEF (with potential to play additional smaller roles): Male, works for a trucking company/Firefighter, variable age, could potentially play Stanley, Arsonist, and Hungover Man
MAXINE (with potential to play additional smaller roles): Female, High School Cafeteria Cook/ First Responder, could potentially play Historian and Bystander
LISA (with potential to play additional smaller roles): Female, First Responder, could potentially play Barry Lynn, Mother Perry, Reporter, Bible-Wielding Mother, and Ex-Wife #2
SARAH: Female, Jed’s wife, could potentially double as the “FIRE DANCER”
